Learning for All

Our broad Learning for All programme offers courses throughout Buckinghamshire, supporting adults with additional needs to develop independent living and work skills in a collaborative and creative environment.

Our dedicated tutors and learning support assistants provide a personalised learning journey for every student that is challenging, varied and fun. All we ask from you is commitment.

Developing communication skills through drama

This course aims to explore drama.

It is for adults with learning difficulties with an interest in writing plays, doing role play, interacting with others, making props and doing a performance.

During the course, and working at your own pace, you will:

  • Use a variety of different materials and cover a range of activities
  • Follow a sequence whilst acting or dancing
  • Show that you can work with others to write a play
  • Demonstrate that you can take part or film a piece of video
  • Demonstrate that you can say how you could improve your play
  • Take part in simple drama routines that have been used across the world.

Movers and Shakers

This course aims to explore creative ways to support your health and wellbeing through craft, games, dance and gentle exercise.

During the course you will:

  • Make a selection of craft items following spoken instructions and a demonstration
  • Take part in games and activities that support social and communication skills
  • Support you to learn exercise techniques to practise at home
  • Identify the importance of warming up and cooling down when we exercise
  • Learn a variety of dance movements and sequences
  • Work with others to create choreography
  • Explore the positive effect of exercise on your health and well-being.

Art and wellbeing

During the course you will:

  • Explore different art techniques
  • Create art work using various methods
  • Use a variety of art materials
  • Evaluate different art pieces
  • Recognise feelings through art

Everyday English

Course aims and content

This course aims to develop your everyday English skills that can be used at work, home and in the community.

It is for adults with learning difficulties and or disabilities.

During the course you will:

  • Improve your reading, writing, speaking or listening
  • Improve your speaking and listening skills in everyday situations
  • Write the letters of the alphabet using upper and lower cases
  • Create short texts using simple sentences and basic punctuation
  • Use grammar and punctuation to help make your writing clear
  • Spell some personal key and familiar words correctly
  • Use spelling methods to learn how to spell common words
  • Read a simple text and identify the main points, responding appropriately
  • Use a computer to type simple texts
  • Use a website to access information
  • You will work from your own starting point and at your own pace.
