Learning Bytes – September 2020

Learning Bytes e-newsletter button

Welcome to the latest edition of Learning Bytes, your regular e-newsletter from Buckinghamshire Adult Learning.

Welcome back to the new academic year, many of our courses have started or will be starting soon, so don’t miss out on your chance to enrol.

We are really pleased that we’ve been able to reopen our adult learning centres to run courses in a socially distanced and Covid-19 secure way. Watch our video to find out what we’ve done to make our centres safe for you and our staff and tutors.

We have worked with public health and implemented all recommended measures to keep you as safe as possible; the key message is to wash your hands, sanitise regularly and keep a two metre distance wherever possible. Whilst Covid infection in Buckinghamshire remains low, we trust that all learners coming to class will be considerate to others and ensure that they will not attend if they are any showing symptoms of the virus. It is recognised that as we move towards the winter months, common colds will be inevitable for most of us and many learners may attend class with minor cold symptoms. We ask that everyone is supportive of each other and be assured that a common sense approach will be taken to keep each other safe.

Rule of six

As an adult education provider, all our courses are exempt from the new ‘rule of six’ that came into effect on Monday 14 September. All our classrooms have already been assessed to hold a maximum capacity of learners based on its size, and as we offer part-time learning provision and our learners are not together in social bubbles for majority of the week, we have maintained a two metre social distance for all staff and learners for maximum safety. As a result of this continual action all our class sizes are already small.

We do also have a range of online courses available to those of you who don’t yet feel ready to return to face-to-face learning, but are raring to get back to learning or just find it more convenient to learn from home.

GCSE results

Well done to our learners who received their GCSE results in August. It was a difficult time for them not being able to take their final exams, so we hope they are pleased with their results. Read the full story here.

We look forward to welcoming you back to learning with us this year.

Best wishes,
Buckinghamshire Adult Learning
