63% of our learners achieved 9-4 grades in English language and 93% achieved 9-4 grades in maths. The reformed exams are graded 9 to 1, with 9 being the highest and grade 4 a standard pass.
Congratulations to a number of learners who achieved 9 and 8 grades. Learner Cee-on Collicott, who is also an Adult Learning Assistant at Highcrest Adult Learning Centre in High Wycombe, was delighted with her GCSE maths result. She said, ‘This was my second year studying maths with BAL. After passing Functional Skills Level 2, I decided to continue as I was back in the swing of learning and enjoying the subject. This year saw personal learning barriers, ongoing health issues and bereavement during my exam time but I can honestly say I am so proud of what I accomplished. I was predicted a 4; when I logged on and saw a 5, I was over the moon. All the hard work, sacrifices and inquisitive questions had paid off. While I’m not sure where I am going next I know that the last two years have made a massive impact on my next move in learning or even passing on these skills to others.”
